Best Films on Technology

If you know me, you know I love movies.
I also dig technology. Technology is also my job and it pays me.

Movies + Technology = Sci-Fi Movies

Presented here for your viewing pleasure is a list of Sci-Fi movies that needs attention and some others you need not bother. This list has gone through rigorous discussions with other avid movie people and tech geeks.....and as expected, there is no real consensus. But its still a big list and can be used at least for reference.

(Note - If something is not on the list, it means I didn't care about it or I have I not had the opportunity.)

  1. I agree with some.

    Logan's Run was great.
Another great oldie is Forbidden Planet (1950's).

I really liked Dune, The Abyss, and Ghostbusters.

I think Star Wars IV, V, and VI should be at the top of the list.

It's fun to think about this though.

  2. Eternal Sunshine and Blade Runner should be on top. Agree that Minority Report and V for Vendetta were over-rated. All Aliens after 2 were terrible.
Good work with the list. You are missing a few, but don't know if you need to include them all.

  3. I don't know if Eternal Sunshine & Children of Men are sci-fi flicks, and I would put Transformers on the dud list.

Donnie Darko I liked a lot. Minority report gets better after repeated viewings, but it's definitely not in the "tops" list.

Truman Show & Pleasantville also not sci-fi to me. Neither was Clockwork Orange.

"Moon" was excellent. Star Trek 2009 was also excellent. And Contact. They Live is a great B-movie.

Otherwise I think we're on the same page.

  4. I agree about Donnie Darko. It didn't grab me the way it did others. What's Pleasantville doing in this conversation? Contact was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Despite my avoidance of most Tom Cruise movies, I did like Minority Report. I also really liked most of A.I.
